CSIR-Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine, Jammu (IIIM) a national Institute of Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), India with primary focus on drug discovery from natural products (medicinal plants and microbial species), invites applications for the Scientific positions. CSIR-IIIM offers excellent infrastructure support, start-up research funding along with a vibrant environment to perform collaborative research in interdisciplinary areas.   1. Natural Products/Medicinal/Analytical/Bio-organic Chemistry: Applicant(s) should have background in total synthesis of natural products, isolation and characterization of chemical constituents, synthesis of chemical compounds designed for drug development or modification of natural products for the creation of drug like molecules. 

  1. Plant Sciences (Plant Biotechnology/Biodiversity/Genetic Resources/ Taxonomy/ Ethnobiology): Applicant(s) in the area should have demonstrated experience in functional genomics, high throughput technologies like microarray, real time gene expression, quantitative allele specific expression, metabolic engineering, chemical ecology, plant physiology, plant survey & collection & taxonomy, ethnobiology and to develop projects in these areas with aim of drug discovery.

  1. Fermentation Technology: Applicant(s) should have experience in isolation, characterization & identification of microbes, screening for specific microbial enzymes and secondary metabolites and to multi-functional fermentation scale up facility from lab to pilot scale ranging from 5 to 4000L capacity and downstream processing.

  1. Clinical Microbiology/Tuberculosis Research: Applicant(s) should be well versed with modern molecular biology and have working experience in clinical microbiology, studying host-pathogen interactions in the context of tuberculosis with a commitment to manage BSL-3 facility at IIIM.

  1. Biological/Pharmacological Sciences: Applicant(s) should have a demonstrated record of significant accomplishment in the field of drug discovery and development / Pharmacokinetics and prior experience in systematic bio-evaluation and studies on molecular mechanism of action of lead compounds in the area of cancer and inflammation will be preferred

  1. Quality Control/Quality Assurance: Applicant(s) should be well versed with current QC/QA guidelines / regulations with respect to  biological / chemical / pharmaceutical  products and also capable of providing operational and maintenance support for LC-MS/MS, GC-MS/MS, HPLC, AAS/ ICP-MS Ion chromatogram, ion selective electrode etc.

  1. cGMP/Formulation Development/Regulatory Affairs: Applicant(s) with in-depth understanding of pharmaceutical formulation principles, global CMC regulatory requirements. Applicants with experience of working in cGMP extraction/formulation plants/GLP compliant labs will be preferred.

Candidates with consistently good academic record ( i.e. 60% and above) will be preferred. 

Application must be accompanied by one self attested photograph, publication reprints, synopsis sheet duly filled in the prescribed format, attested copies of certificates and testimonials and names of five to eight references with their contact details etc.
                                                                       
The upper age limit will be reckoned as on 31.08. 2011. The upper age-limit is relaxable in case of SC/ST/OBC/PH candidates as per Govt. of India rules as under:-.

The upper age limit, however,may be relaxed up to 5 years for SC/ST and 03 years for OBC as per Government orders in force only in those cases where the post are reserved for respective categories and upto five years for the employees working in CSIR Labs./Government/Autonomous Bodies/Public Sector Undertakings.

SC/ST/OBC candidates are required to produce attested copy of community certificate in the prescribed format along with the Application Form.

Relaxation in the upper age limit for Physically Handicapped will be 5 years, over and above the relaxation admissible for SC/ST/OBC, as the case may be, on furnishing of the Disability certificate (suffering from not less than 40 percent of relevant disability) issued by the competent authority.

Candidates belonging to Other Backward Classes (OBC) must submit the attested photocopy of the current year’s certificate in the Central Govt. prescribed form issued by the specified competent authority (SDO/District Magistrate/  Dy. Commissioner) along with the Application Form. The certificate issued by Gazetted Officers should becountersigned by the District Magistrate or Dy. Commissioner. OBC candidates will be considered as per CSIR/Govt. of India Rules.

Relaxation in upper age limit of 5 years   is also applicable for persons who had ordinarily been domiciled in the State of J& K during the period of 1.1.1980 to 31.12.1989 subject to production of a certificate [certificate must be attached with the application] from the District Magistrate in whose jurisdiction he/she had  ordinarily resided OR from any other authority designated for this by the Govt. of J & K State.  .

The upper age-limit is also relaxable by 5 years in case of Council/Government/Autonomous Bodies/Public Sectors employees as per CSIR Rules.
                                                                       
Applicants of Indian origin, settled abroad, who are of proven merit as evidenced by their research work, may be considered in absentia by the selection committee on request.
                                                                       
Relaxation in upper age limit, qualifications and/or experience, in case of exceptionally meritorious candidates, (both departmental and outsiders) may be considered with the prior approval of competent authority.
               
Applications from employees of Government/Semi-Govt. Departments, Public Sector Undertakings and Autonomous Bodies will be considered only if routed through proper channel.
               
Applications received after the closing date will not be entertained. Incomplete applications will be summarily rejected.
               
Mere fulfillment of essential educational qualifications and/or experience does not entitle a candidate to be called for interview. The Institute will decide its own criteria to short-list the applications.
               
Application submitted from India (in case of candidates who are presently residing abroad, they have to submit US $ 25 as an application fee ) should be accompanied by a Demand Draft of Rs.100.00 (Rupees One hundred only) drawn in favor of Director, Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine, Jammu, payable at Jammu (Applicant should write his/her name and date of birth at the back of the DD). SC/ST/PH /Women Candidates and regular employees of CSIR are exempted from payment of application fee.
                                                                       
The candidates who want to apply for more than one post may submit separate application for the same along with all required documents and draft.

Period of experience in a discipline/area of work shall be counted from the date of acquiring of minimum prescribed educational qualification.
               
The positions carry usual allowances as admissible to Central Govt. employees in the same pay scale and posted at Jammu.
